About Us
Studies have shown that in addictions recovery, long-term success is greatly enhanced through participation in transitional living programs that provide structured support for 3 to 12 months before reintegration into the community.
Susan Stader, a licensed counselor specializing in addictions and substance abuse, founded Next Step Recovery, Inc. in May 2006 to fill the gap in transitional housing that was created when several Asheville recovery residences closed down. As an addictions counselor, Susan knew that a stable and structured environment was critical to success in early addictions recovery.
Next Step Recovery’s houses and program schedule were designed to prevent isolation, which has been shown to increase the likelihood of relapse. Up to 24 males can be accommodated in two adjacent houses with a shared commercial kitchen, dining and laundry facilities.
