Most of us know that addiction takes a tremendous toll on individual
lives. Perhaps less well understood is the toll addiction takes on
communities as a whole. Here in Western North Carolina, there are
an estimated 50,000 to 70,000 adult males who are currently struggling
with drug and alcohol addiction.
The cost to our community is high—both in terms of lost work productivity
and family dysfunction but also in terms of the emergency health
care and law enforcement services used.
When you contribute to Next Step Recovery’s Serenity Campaign, you
not only help current and future male residents struggling with addiction,
you also help make Western North Carolina a healthier place for all
of us to live.
